In this episode, we sit down with S.T. Joshi. S.T. is an American literary critic whose work has largely focused on weird and fantastic fiction, especially the life and work of H. P. Lovecraft.
We listen to “Death of a Damned Good Man,” originally published in Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine (January 1991), and an excerpt of Avram Davidson on H.P. Lovecraft from his book review column in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction (January 1963).
To be honest, the story had a much greater impact when read alongside the narration. I also suspect that, although it was published in 1991, it may have been written earlier.
